Greetings Visitors!
Welcome to my Kindergarten classroom web page! I’m Mrs. Amy Monteiro. The 2011-2012 school year is my 18th year working in early childhood education and 12th year teaching Kindergarten (11th in Westwood). I created this page to quickly and easily communicate back-and-forth with the families of the children in my class and I welcome anyone to post comments and questions to me (or to the other families) through this site. Please check back often to stay up to date with what’s going on in our classroom. You can subscribe through an rss feed reader (feed button is at the bottom left hand corner of this page) or below to receive posts via email. I’m looking forward to another fun year in KM!

Nice to be recognized…
...although it was only by some silly teacher website with no real credence. Now if it was awarded by the MTA or NEA, this button would appear right at the top of the page!

Tomorrow is Field Day. Please remember the following:

*Wear your Red Field Day T-shirt
*Apply sunscreen BEFORE you come to school
*Wear a sun hat or baseball hat if you have one
*Bring a water bottle LABELED with your NAME
*Don’t bring a snack

We will be going outside right at 9:00 and we will remain outside playing games until 11:30. We will not be stopping for snack. There will be slush provided by the PTA for all of the students following the games, just before the K students board their buses (or are picked up) at 11:50. Children who are being picked up will be dismissed out our blue doors as usual BUT because there will be lots of other students and parents outside at that time, please come right to the blue door to meet your child rather than waiting on the perimeter of the blacktop.

***If your child normally rides a bus home or attends an after-school program on Wednesdays but you are planning to pick them up tomorrow (because you are volunteering at Field Day or otherwise) PLEASE be sure to send a note in your child’s VIP in the morning. Notes need to be processed by the office early to avoid confusion at Kindergarten dismissal***

Thank you!

are going home today. Please be sure the kids wear them to school on WEDNESDAY! Thank you!

I just wanted to say a heart felt thank you for the class gifts you gave me on Friday. I have the perfect spot right outside my kitchen window for the hanging pot and my kids are so excited to grow some strawberries at home. Your generous gift cards will be put to very good use this summer as well.

I am going to try to upload the Author’s Breakfast PowerPoint Presentation from home tonight since there were a few parents who were not able to make it on Friday.

Also, next Wednesday is Field Day. The PTA will be giving all the children T-shirts this year but everyone will need to bring their own water bottle labeled with their name. We can fill them up here at school if you don’t want them to leak accidentally in their backpacks. Also, please be sure to apply sunscreen at home before coming to school and a hat with a brim would probably be a good idea too!

Please have you child wear their green Westwood Kindergarten T-shirt for the field trip tomorrow. If you no longer have it, can’t find it, or it is dirty, please have them wear another green shirt.

Also, don’t forget they need to bring a lunch. This is the one day of the year that we’d prefer you pack everything in disposable containers (bottles water, juice/milk boxes, brown paper bags, etc.) as we need to fit every one’s lunch in a few coolers that will be left in Mrs. Truman’s car and we don’t want to leave anything behind by accident at the park. Also, please be sure to label your child’s lunch bag with his/her name.

The weather looks great for tomorrow. Please be sure to apply sunscreen before you send your child to school and if you could send a hat with a brim to keep the sun off their face, and comfortable shoes as we will be doing a lot of walking outside. Thanks!

Please wear your red, white, and blue or your scout uniform to school tomorrow for our Memorial Day Assembly.
