Greetings Visitors!
Welcome to my Kindergarten classroom web page! I’m Mrs. Amy Monteiro. The 2011-2012 school year is my 18th year working in early childhood education and 12th year teaching Kindergarten (11th in Westwood). I created this page to quickly and easily communicate back-and-forth with the families of the children in my class and I welcome anyone to post comments and questions to me (or to the other families) through this site. Please check back often to stay up to date with what’s going on in our classroom. You can subscribe through an rss feed reader (feed button is at the bottom left hand corner of this page) or below to receive posts via email. I’m looking forward to another fun year in KM!

Nice to be recognized…
...although it was only by some silly teacher website with no real credence. Now if it was awarded by the MTA or NEA, this button would appear right at the top of the page!

The School Store that was supposed to be last Friday was postponed until this Friday. Please be sure, if you are going to send money to school with your child, that you send it in a small zip top baggie or envelope with their NAME on it and SCHOOL STORE and place it in the VIP. We will collect all the money in the morning so that it does not get lost and we will give it back to the kids at lunch time when they will have the opportunity to shop. The limit is $5 but any amount between $.50 and $5 is fine.

The November student council service project is Turkeys for America. Kids can bring in money to donate. We have a collection container in our classroom.

We are also collecting Box Tops. Last round, our class lost out on a pizza party by just 10 or so box tops! This round we can win a hot cocoa and cookie party which Mrs. Holbrook is so excited about! Let’s bring in those box tops between now and Dec. 15!

I keep coming across fun little activities that I’d love to do at school but (still) just don’t have time for with all of the other curriculum items we need to cover. So I’ve attached a neat little November calendar activity you can do at home with your kids. It is a great way to keep kids busy if you have to keep them home due to a cold! novcal.pdf
