Greetings Visitors!
Welcome to my Kindergarten classroom web page! I’m Mrs. Amy Monteiro. The 2011-2012 school year is my 18th year working in early childhood education and 12th year teaching Kindergarten (11th in Westwood). I created this page to quickly and easily communicate back-and-forth with the families of the children in my class and I welcome anyone to post comments and questions to me (or to the other families) through this site. Please check back often to stay up to date with what’s going on in our classroom. You can subscribe through an rss feed reader (feed button is at the bottom left hand corner of this page) or below to receive posts via email. I’m looking forward to another fun year in KM!

Nice to be recognized…
...although it was only by some silly teacher website with no real credence. Now if it was awarded by the MTA or NEA, this button would appear right at the top of the page!

Just a reminder that everyone is invited to the Thanksgiving Feast the Kindergarten children will be enjoying tomorrow at 10:30. If you take your child home with you following the feast please remember to SIGN OUT on the classroom clipboard in the cafeteria. Just ask a staff member and we will show you where they are.

Also, Lavender’s Orders are still in the hallway by the gym for 4 of our children. Please make it a point to come pick those up as soon as possible.

Thank you to those families that donated a book from the  to our classroom. The book fair was a big success and we appreciate the new books for our classroom library.

The children were visited by many flying creatures today. Ask them what they saw and what they learned about our flying neighbors.

turkey.gifNovember Service Project: Turkeys-4-America

We will have a collection box in our classroom for children to bring in spare change to donate to Turkeys-4-America. Turkeys-4-America was started by two Westwood students to raise money to purchase turkeys for families for Thanksgiving.

 November 9: School Store

Following lunch, the children will have the opportunity to visit the school to purchase items such as folders, and pencils. There is a $4 limit on spending. Money raised is used by the Student Council to purchase items for our school as well as to fund a scholarship for a Sheehan alum graduating for High School this year.

November 14: Pajama Day!

Wear your pajamas to school today! No slippers please.

November 16: Movie Night

Join your friends in the Sheehan cafeteria for a movie and a snack. Entry is only $5. I believe it will start at 6:30 (Check the Sheehan Notes to be sure) and we will be viewing Meet the Robinsons.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has sent in box tops to raise money for our school. It can sometimes be difficult to keep track of them when they come in just 1 or 2 at a time though! It would be very helpful for Mrs. Holbrook if you could collect them someplace at home and send them in to school when you have collected a bunch (maybe 20 or more). Thank you.

Also, please accept my apologies for not updating the calendar recently. The school’s firewall has blocked me from getting to Google Calendar so I have not been able to update it from school. Soon I will be changing the calendar format to one which I CAN update from school so keep checking!
